July 10, 2020- 2 Inches of Rain Fell in Hoboken This Afternoon- Here are the Results

Hoboken Flood July 10, 2020
The bump outs and concrete islands installed to limit flooding failed in Hoboken on July 10 as the city attempted to deal with 2+  inches of rain during the afternoon. The pumping stations, resistance parks, and other safeguards to protect Hoboken from flooding were taxed to their utter limit. To reiterate, 2 inches of rain. Here are pictures and video clips from social media. 

hMAG reports that in low-lying costal areas like Hoboken, roads quickly turned into rivers as 2.8 inches of rain dropped on the Mile Square City. Social media footage showed dramatic scenes of flash floods all across the city.

According to the Hoboken Police Department, vehicles became stuck in flood waters at 2nd & Clinton Streets, 14th & Madison, 1st & Harrison, 9th & Monroe, Observer & Henderson, Marshall & Paterson Plank Road. Sources say most of those incidents involve drivers who disregarded barriers that hat been put up by responding officers.
