LitLife Summit Meeting

On Thursday afternoon, LitLife coordinator Patty Reily, NCLB district coordinator Jennifer Lopez and Dr. Petrosino met to discuss and review LitLife implementation that occurred this year and presented plans for next year's continued implementation. Ms. Reily reviewed with Ms. Lopez and Dr. Petrosino the implementation of LitLife at each of the 3 campuses and discussed issues related around staffing, administration and consistency of implementation. LitLife supplies ongoing and systemic long term professional development to district faculty in Grades 1-3. For academic year 2009-10 there will be a planned expansion into grades 4, and 5. LitLife complements self regulation and metacognitive strategies that lead to long term gains in literacy. This is especially important in the early elementary grades. LitLife complements the PreK-K TOOLS OF THE MIND curriculum as well as lays a frim foundation for the Middle Years Program for IB. Together, it forms a tight coupling for the new curriculum.

The group also spoke about Ms. Reily meeting with the Early Elementary Language Group on Thursday, May 28th at the Brandt Professional Development Center in order to review the curriculum. LitLife and Ms. Reily are serving as outside reviewers for the new Language curriculum.
